Option 1: Celebrate the Decorative Arts--One Day
• docent-guided tour of the Mennonite Immigrant Furniture exhibit
• introduction to the Mennonites from the 16th century to the present
• optional mid-morning faspa—coffee, tea and traditional Mennonite yeast rolls (additional charge)
• individual time for viewing Kauffman Museum’s award winning Of Land and People exhibit
• lunch at the Breadbasket in Newton—traditional Mennonite soups plus sandwiches, salads and freshly baked pies
• afternoon tour of the Decorative Arts Museum at the international headquarters of the Society of Decorative Painters in Wichita with an optional hands-on decorative painting experience

The decorative arts tour can also be configured as a half-day tour with an optional hands-on decorative painting activity at Kauffman Museum (instructional fee).

Option 2: Who Are the Mennonites?--One Day
Morning at Kauffman Museum:
• docent-guided tour of the Mennonite Immigrant Furniture exhibit
• introduction to the Mennonites from the 16th century to the present
• optional mid-morning faspa—coffee, tea and traditional Mennonite yeast rolls (additional charge)
• individual time for viewing Kauffman Museum’s award winning Of Land and People exhibit

Three afternoon options:

A. Warkentin House, Newton, Kansas. Listed on the National Register of Historic Places, the 1887 home of Mennonite entrepreneur Bernhard and Wilhelmina Warkentin contains splendid Victorian furnishings and architectural elements.

B. Mennonite Settlement Museum, Hillsboro, Kansas. The Peter Paul Loewen House is a traditional Russian clay brick housebarn that is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. Furnishings show immigrant life in the Mennonite village of Hoffnungsthal.

C. Mennonite Heritage Museum in Goessel, Kansas. The lives of Russian Mennonites are preserved in family displays in the Immigrant House, while the story of Mennonite contributions to Kansas agriculture is featured in the Turkey Red Wheat Palace.

Kauffman Museum Hours: 9:30-4:30 Tuesday-Friday, 1:30-4:30 Saturday-Sunday or by appointment. Closed on Mondays and major holidays.
Admission: Adults $4.00, Children 6-16, $2.00
