Awesome 150: Museum Friends Share Their Favorites

Kauffman Museum commemorates 150 awesome years of Kansas statehood (1861-2011) with a special exhibition of 150 awesome items from museum storage. Volunteers served as “community curators” by selecting artifacts and taxidermy specimens for the exhibition. Youth in the “Finding Treasure at Kauffman Museum” summer camp interviewed the curators and recorded stories of why our collections are interesting or important. Involving the community in the selection and interpretation of these objects emphasizes our belief that we are all stewards of American memory.

Awesome 150 is on display through October 9, 2011.
