Considering the Commonplace Exhibition dates: Bob Regier is a retired artist-teacher living in North Newton, Kansas. The images selected for this exhibition are drawn from a collection of photographs accumulated from twenty years of Kansas travels with his wife, Vernette, and their friends Keith and Aldine Sprunger. These adventures to all quadrants of the state numerous times have led to an enduring affection for the ordinary—which, surprisingly, time and again becomes quite extraordinary. Regier received a B.A. from Bethel College, studied at the School of the Chicago Art Institute and holds a master of fine arts degree in painting and printmaking from the University of Illinois. He retired from Bethel College in North Newton, Kansas, after teaching art for 32 years. Regier’s primary studio interest has been printmaking, preferably monotypes, and he also has actively pursued graphic design and photography. Since 1985 he has been part of the Kauffman Museum exhibit team, winning numerous awards for exhibit and graphic design.
